My Artist Journey -- Alice Stadin
I believe that I had a gradual left brain, right brain switch, beginning in the 1990’s. I became interested in art when we were living on an island
in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (my husband worked for Lockheed at Kwajalein, Marshall Islands). Returning to St. Pete, Florida, I began
with art classes. Three years later, when we moved to New Mexico, my artist journey began in earnest. I fell in love with the light and wanted to
capture it. Watercolor had always been my mainstay medium, but I ventured into acrylic, oil, pastel, and colored pencils to express the
views and moods of the paintings. It was encouraging being around the culture of art from artists, teachers, exhibits, etc. Returning to St. Pete,
my interests veered to beach scenes. The best part was roaming the beach for inspiration and finding the serenity the ocean gives. Now in
N. Florida, nature, wildlife, landscapes and still beach scenes capture my imagination. It is indeed a journey but one is never finished!
