Meeting was called to order on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:30pm.
Members present: Kristi Rosende, Patty Vickers, Kenny Vickers, Bob Copper, Susan Rissman, Cody Ray Carlino, Sioux Smythe, Jan Munn, Sheila Slick, Laura DeVries and Rosemary Anderman. Motion to accept minutes of October meeting as corrected was made by Bob Copper and seconded by Susan Rissman.
Treasurers Report: Balance in The First was reported by Treasurer Susan Rissman. Motion to accept Treasurer’s Report was made by Bob Copper and seconded by Patty Vickers. Discussion included review of how to fill out a sales receipt for the gift shop and gallery. This month Microsoft Bing Rewards netted $28.47.

Members present: Patty Vickers, Vickie Gallins, Judy Miller, Rosemary Anderman, Susan Rissman, Cheryl Gifford. Motion to accept October 5 minutes was made by Judy Miller and Vickie Gallins.
Treasurers Report: Balance in The First was reported by Treasurer Susan Rissman. She stated that sufficient funds were available to pay current invoices. Air conditioning repairs were done by Stewarts Heating and Air at a cost of $290.00, Liability insurance was $439.62. Our September show brought in $700.00 with Leslie Pepples being top seller. Fall Festival brought in $377.59 which was mostly rental space.

NEW BUSINESS:
Sketch and Crawl artist did sketches of musicians during our Fine Crafts and Arts Festival.
Wirick Simmons Children’s Pumpkin Painting.
Ornaments can be brought to gallery on Monday Nov 7 thru Wednesday Nov 9. Trees and decorating will begin on Wednesday 9th.
Monticello Xmas is Friday 12/2; Tville Victorian Xmas is 12/8. Motion was made to be open from 5-6 on Monticello Xmas nite. Need front desk volunteers.
November board and membership meeting will be from 1-2 pm on December 10th along with our Holiday Party from 2-4 pm.
2023 will be 25th JAG Anniversary; bring ideas “Banner 25years and counting”.

Old Business
Current gallery show “Sweetest Smiles of Summer” will continue thru end of August; pick up is Wed 8/31
Flea Across Florida will be held Sept 10 and members can set up on the front lawn
Members were encouraged to sign up for Microsoft “Give With Bing” JAG can get free $$ for having Bing as one of member’s search engines; so far for 4 months in 2022 Jag has gotten $100
Colored Pencil classes will go on hiatus after August 31; they will likely resume in Jan 2023. Ceramics/pottery class has a new instructor in Jan Munn. No change in classroom time. Oil painting classes are still on Sat AM and being taught by Fran Buie.
New Business
A monthly newsletter was suggested to be sent out to all members. After discussion as to expenses, FB and website viability, Tamara Heseltine moved to make FB and website the source location for a monthly newsletter. Also included in the motion to make the current website more like a page from a 2017 site and to include class and festival info, and minutes of meetings; seconded by Fran Buie. Motion was Passed. Vickie Gallina moved and it was seconded by Laura DeVries to continue to send out postcards to announce member shows, and to send out personal cards to members, ie, death in family, get well, etc. Motion was passed.
Bill Moon reminded members that Robert’s Rules of Order should be followed. Jan Munn seconded. Passed.
Opening all art gallery shows to members was introduced. After much discussion, it was moved that members will have access to the classroom outside walls as member show walls. Sioux Smith so moved and it was seconded by Peggy Warmack. Motion was approved.
Suggestion was made to have more classes at the gallery. A call for instructors will be sent out and class info will be posed on FB, Website, and email blasts.
A suggestion was made to have more social activities to be held at JAG. A committee will be selected to provide suggestions and to plan activities..
In order to encourage volunteers, a motion was made that members who participate in member shows, volunteer to work the front gallery desk for 1 2-hour shifts per month. It was moved to select a committee to review and suggestions. This committee would also look into to putting together a gift shop agreement similar to the Exhibit guidelines/agreement. Also suggested was to rotate gift shop items quarterly.
The Membership form will be posted the website.
The Junior JAG program was brought up. Here students would be instructed in various art disciplines and have such classes at JAG. A small fee would be charged This item on the agenda was tabled until the next meeting. Jan Munn volunteered to look into the real possibility of such classes. Jan Munn moved that scholarship funding be looked into for those students unable to pay the fee; seconded by Nataniel Pye.
A dialogue related to the loaning out of JAG equipment and fungible supplies. The motion consisted of only allowing such items as books from the JAG library to have a sign in-sign out process, similar to public libraries. Motion was carried.
There being no further business; meeting was adjourned with motion by Laura DeVries and seconded by Vickie
Gallina. Adjourned at 3:30pm.

- Member wall artwork features ribbons and artwork by members at the November N FL Fair.
- Poor turnout for December 5 evening show which coincided with Downtown Monticello Christmas Parade and Live Nativity – Although there was lots of publicity about the event, only had 3 visitors.
- 84 people viewed our Google Business listing in November
- Sign up to help with Festival - Put up signs/tents/assist visitors and vendors/parking/front desk
- Winn Dixie Community Shopping Bag campaign will be January 2023; $1 for every $2.99 bag bought in store will be donated to JAG; last time we participated we received $20
- 2023 will be 25th JAG Anniversary; ideas? Use suggestion box
- Bobbie Golden will be renting the gallery space for a spinning demonstration in January

- Robin Averett – Soapmaking - Saturday 10/15 3-6p Cost $65
- Website Update-Member Spotlight pages, and minutes/forms pages, mission statement/basic rules were posted
- Library book checkout notebook and suggestion box in classroom space was pointed out
- Member wall artwork for September had 6 participants
- Out of the Woods is October Show Theme Opens October 8-November 5; Member are limited to 1 small piece of artwork about woods/forest friends to be included in the exhibit and should be dropped off on Thursday, Oct 6; pickup end of show will be Nov 7
- Student Art Classes grant update -- we are waiting further clarification from the parent organization
- Extend hours of gallery on Saturdays 2p until 4p, with addition of gallery hours on Sundays from 1p-4p; Fridays from 5:30p-7:30p; Mondays 5p-7p as long as at least 2 persons are available; The Vickers expressed an interest in weekends and Kristi as her schedule permitted.
- As there were several new members in attendance, Bob and Susan gave a brief history of the building and Jefferson Art Gallery
- Sign up to help with Festival - Put up signs/tents/assist visitors and vendors/parking/front desk
- Halloween Pumpkin Drawing Activity for Students – Saturday October 29 behind historical Warwick-Simmons house, in conjunction with Mainstreet and Downtown Monticello
- Sign up for Holiday Ornament Show Prep -Help put up and decorate trees with handmade ornaments and gifts November 7-11
